The Road to the 2026 World Series: Baseball, Playoffs & the Pins That Preserve the Moment
October means one thing for baseball fans: the postseason is here. After a long regular season, 30 MLB teams have been narrowed down to just 12 contenders, all chasing the same ultimate prize—the World Series Championship.
The 2026 MLB postseason has already delivered the drama that makes October baseball so special. The playoff field includes three division winners and three Wild Card teams from each league, with the top two division winners in each league receiving first-round byes. The Wild Card Series began September 29, setting the stage for the Division Series matchups that are now underway.
The 2026 Playoff Picture
In the American League, the Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Guardians, and Houston Astros entered the postseason as division champions, while the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Chicago White Sox earned Wild Card spots.
The National League field featured the Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Atlanta Braves as division champions, joined by the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies as Wild Card teams.
The Wild Card round immediately produced some memorable moments. The Yankees swept the Red Sox, winning both games convincingly. The White Sox also swept Houston, earning their first postseason series victory since 2005. Meanwhile, the Padres swept the Cubs, and the Braves survived a dramatic three-game battle with the Phillies to advance to the NLDS.
Now, the Division Series has taken center stage.
As of October 7, four ALDS and NLDS matchups are underway: the White Sox vs. Guardians, Rays vs. Yankees, Dodgers vs. Braves, and Brewers vs. Padres. Several teams are already facing elimination, making every pitch, hit, defensive play and managerial decision feel even more important.
One of the biggest storylines is the matchup between the Dodgers and Braves. Los Angeles currently leads the NLDS 2-1 after a 3-1 victory in Game 3, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto striking out 10 batters over seven innings. The Dodgers are looking to continue their postseason run after winning the 2025 World Series.
On the American League side, the Rays have jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Yankees, while the White Sox have also taken a commanding 2-0 lead over Cleveland. That means several teams are just one victory away from advancing to the League Championship Series.
And that's what makes October baseball so exciting: everything can change in one game.
From Playoff Moments to Collectible Memories
For baseball fans, the postseason isn't just about watching games. It's about remembering them.
That's where sports collecting becomes part of the experience.
A baseball pin can represent much more than a team logo. It can commemorate a championship, a legendary player, a postseason matchup, a historic milestone or simply the team you grew up cheering for.
At Classic Pins, we believe pins are a fun way to turn baseball history into something you can actually collect and display. Our MLB collection includes officially licensed team pins, World Series pins, playoff pins, stadium pins, milestone collectibles and limited-edition pieces.
For the 2026 postseason, collectors can already find special ALDS and NLDS Dueling Pins, including the Braves vs. Dodgers, Padres vs. Brewers, Yankees vs. Rays and White Sox vs. Guardians matchups. These pins capture the specific postseason matchups happening right now—making them especially meaningful to fans following the 2026 playoff journey.
And the collecting doesn't have to stop once the final out is recorded.
The World Series is one of the most important events on the baseball calendar, and World Series memorabilia can become a snapshot of an entire season. Once the 2026 champion is crowned, that team will become part of baseball history—and the story of how they got there will live on through collectibles, memorabilia and memories.
